Alyiakal, overcaptain in the Mirror Lancers of Cyador, has completed his tour as officer-in-charge of a remote post, and wants to finish in time to see his best friend consorted and assume his next post assignment. Events conspire against him when he uncovers corruption, and investigating Mirror Lancer officers end up dead. Before he can go on leave, he has to replace one of these officers, dodge an assassination attempt and overly inquisitive Magi-iand thats just the beginning of Alyiakals problems.
