Joshua’s superheroes do not wear capes or fly through the sky– they sit beside him in class, encourage him at recess, help him through overwhelming moments, and make him feel welcome at school. Inspired by real experiences, My School Has Superheroes follows an autistic child as caring classmates support him through communication challenges, classroom frustration, sensory overload, unfamiliar foods, and new activities. Through relatable school-day moments, young readers learn that patience, encouragement, understanding, and inclusion can be powerful superpowers. The story provides meaningful representation for neurodivergent children while helping classmates recognize practical ways they can support one another. Ideal for families, classrooms, libraries, counselors, and special-education settings, this uplifting picture book opens conversations about autism acceptance, empathy, friendship, and creating a school community where every child belongs.
