We light lanterns in remembrance, to acknowledge the past and move forward, to keep their memory of someone who has passed away and to light the path through dark times. The UTS Writers’ Anthology introduces Light the Lanterns. Through short story, poetry, creative non-fiction and script, this collection offers works inspired by lived and imagined experiences of human trial and resilience. The anthology showcases emerging creative talent and features deeply human tales ranging from hanging out the laundry and competing with an obsessive neighbour to fighting cancer and escaping an active warzone. We encourage everyone to light their lantern and immerse themselves in the brightness. Of the many anthologies coming out of university writing programs, the annual UTS collection has always been the standout.
