In Playtime, Typhaine Le Monnier embraces play not as escape but as survival, transforming repetition and material resistance into creation amid uncertainty between jewellery and sculpture. Typhaine Le Monnier’s practice is fueled by the fraught tension between failure and discovery, doubt and intuition. Her work wavers between jewellery and sculpture, intimacy and collectivity, questioning the ways in which we inhabit the world and the role objects play within it. At times, the creative process itself is elevated to the status of a work of art, revealing the artist’s performative practice – the ‘in-between’ takes centre stage. Playtime unfolds like a play, with a prologue, several acts, an interlude, and an epilogue. The pieces become the characters on stages designed by the artist. Text in English and German.
