This is the true and comprehensive story of Gull Force, 8th Division AIF during WW2 as told by Courtney Harrison. He was one of 1,131 Australian soldiers sent to defend the tiny NEI island of Ambon in Indonesia. After being taken Prisoners of War by the Japanese early in 1942, these men were to endure three and a half years of captivity. Some escaped, some were taken by ship to Hainan Island in China however, many were not so fortunate. Less than one third were to survive their captivity to return home to Australia. This is one of the lessor known but one of the most horrific stories of WW2. There are nominal rolls to account for all of the men that served in Gull Force.
