The Derbal Yerrigan and the Djarlgarro Bilya have always been – and always will be – important Nyoongar places. Created in the Nytting, at the beginning of time, these waterways carry our stories and connect our families from long ago, today and forever. By their shores, the lives of important Nyoongar leaders, such as Midgegooroo, Yellagonga and Yagan, unfolded at a time of enormous change for our people. By sharing our stories, we are sharing our culture. May future generations walk together and care for Nyoongar Boodja, our shared home.
