Birds in boots, fussy stars, and other fantastical visitors interrupt baby’s bedtime in this fresh take on a traditional Ukrainian lullaby. Baby is snug in the crib, but the night is far from over! Slumber bumbles by the window. ‘Here,’ says Dream-da, ‘Come this way.’ Slumber rumbles, ‘Have you found it? Found the place we need to stay?’ Slumber and Dream-da are the first guests to shelter in the warm, dry house. But before long, birds in boots burst in with fruits. Then a gaggle of stars straggle in, looking for a lift back up to the sky. Joyful mayhem abounds, but baby still needs a lullaby! Olga Pastuchiv draws on the Ukrainian folk song ‘Oi Khodyt Son Kolo Vikon’ (‘Dream Passes By the Windows’) and imagery from other traditional lullabies in this unforgettable bedtime read-aloud. With rhyming text that dances and lilts and pictures that burst with lively color, Lulee Lullaby is a tune you’ll will want on repeat.
