The queen of simmering tension’ M. J. ARLIDGE CAN YOU EVER ESCAPE THE PAST? When Heather Pethick is found dead at the wheel of her car on a Birmingham back street, DCI Robin Lyons is immediately called to investigate. The single knife wound to Heather’s throat leaves little room for doubt: she was murdered. Robin initially suspects that the cold-blooded killing is a result of organized crime, especially when she learns that Heather lived on a farm with access to secluded coves on the Cornish coastline, ideal for trafficking. But when another woman goes missing – someone with whom Heather had a fraught exchange just hours before she died – Robin realises that there’s more to the story. Can Robin find the killer before they strike again? And how much will she sacrifice to get to the truth?
