The discovery of gold brought thousands of prospectors to the area, and St Arnaud quickly became a bustling centre of activity. The town’s growth and prosperity during this period are evident in the stunning architecture and historical sites that are featured in this book. St Arnaud and District Historical Society is staffed by volunteers. Based in the Northern Grampians Shire in central Victoria, it is located in the old Turncock’s residence in Napier St, St Arnaud. With a vast amount of family and cemetery records dating from as early as 1860 through to the mid 1900s, its volunteers are happy to assist you with your research needs. It also has access to early St Arnaud newspapers and a collection of early photos of people, events and early life in St Arnaud and district.
