Ancient Rome, AD 50 Agrippina secures her son Lucius’s fate with a marriage to Emperor Claudius. Though more complex than her previous husbands, with a power that was absolute, there were times when she could lead the emperor, gentle as a lamb with her rope around its neck. So it is that Lucius is adopted into the imperial family, and becomes Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. But this is merely the first of many moves for Nero to assume ultimate political power.
